The Ministry of Economic Development of the city of Buenos Aires invited technology firms (IT, Web 2.0, videogames and animation developers) to apply for the Silicon Valley Trade Mission. More than thirty-five local firms that are recognized internationally for their quality products responded to the invitation.

Thirteen of the applicants will be part of the group that visits Silicon Valley from February 28-March 4. The participants were selected by a committee of national and international companies that served as jurors, including Plug & Play Tech Center, Global Tech Bridge, IAE, Endeavor, Quorumm Digital Ventures Partners and Palermo Valley.
The criteria for selecting participants were based on each companys business perspectives, history, market opportunities, work team, and especially, the technological know-how that sets it apart. The following Buenos Aires companies were chosen for the trip: Social Metrix, Keepcon, Wiroos (Taringa!), V-Found, Mindset Designs, Vurbia, Altodot, SIA Interactive, Binaria Group, Empreware, Activica, Junglebat and Click Bunker.
The trade mission, which was organized by the Foreign Commerce and Investments department at the Ministry of Economic Development, seeks to position the city of Buenos Aires as a city of technology and innovation through its Technology District and to create investment opportunities for venture capital (VC) firms and business angels (BA) among the community of technology firms in Buenos Aires. Finally, the mission also aims to promote partnership agreements between companies in Buenos Aires and San Francisco.
The selected companies will receive a non-refundable contribution that will partially cover airfare and accommodations, along with training for the meetings and an individualized schedule. In the months leading up to the mission, the thirteen companies will improve their elevator pitch, presentations, business plans and know-how during the training sessions organized by the Ministry. Once in San Francisco, company reps will visit universities, incubators and important technological companies, and give presentations to venture capital firms and the local business community.
